Say what you will. The jury is not out. Global warming is a thing.

This is going to be one of my ongoing projects for the coming year. Assuming we survive world war three and nuclear armageddon, we’ll still have global warming to contend with.

If war comes to fruition, I don’t expect the parties waging war to give a rat’s ass about the environment. Their sole concern will be to win the war for their side. Afterward, those of us left will have to work with whatever scraps remain. Short of being blasted back into the Stone Age, I expect global warming will still be an issue after said war is over and done.

If war can be overcome (or at least minimized), global warming still looms large. It is a problem that doesn’t go away when our attention is diverted elsewhere. It is a sad truth that there are many more things going on than we can be aware of at one time. Politicians capitalize on our weak attention spans. That is something we should worry about from time to time.

Politically, you can believe what you want. Personally, I’m not fond of mixing science and politics. In my opinion, the job of politics is to use the fruits of science to make better decisions. It is not to argue science. That is something best left to scientists who know what they are talking about.
