I cut the grass last weekend. Just goes to prove that no matter how old you are, there’s a first time for everything.

No, seriously, it wasn’t the first time I’d ever set hands on a lawn mower. But I’ve mostly not cut much more than a little trim on a very rare occasion in over 40 years. And this was the first time I not only cut the entire lawn, but used a riding lawnmower.

I’ve used the electric walk-behind a few times, mainly when there was something I didn’t want the hubby to run over (flowers, for example) with the rider. In those instances he didn’t want to be told where the plants were, he wanted to not have to go near them at all.

I like walking behind the mower. I don’t use it in self propelled mode, don’t really see the point. It was a little annoying that my noise cancelling ear-buds decided not to cancel anything that day, but I survived. And put a set of muffs over them.

It’s possible to do the lawn entirely with the walk behind, I suppose. But it’s around half an acre of grass to cut, and I don’t think I could do that with one charge of the battery. (I don’t run behind the mower like the hubby has been known to.) So, per hubby’s instructions, I did just the trim work, plus a little more where I couldn’t see a path to easily navigate a riding mower. He does, but I didn’t think I’d be that competent on my first try. I’ll…
